Sunset Showdown is a two-player roleplaying game about dramatic fights, broken hearts, and high-flying combo attacks.
Playing Sunset Showdown requires:
Before the fight can begin, spark the flame that burns in your hearts.
First, discuss what vibes you want for the fight. This could be content notes (e.g. no gross injuries; no blood; big yes to guns), setting ideas (e.g. fighting on a train; magic-infused martial arts), or media properties you want to riff on (e.g. your favorite fighting game, shonen anime, or bullet-time action film).
Next, decide on the core dynamic between the two fighters. To do so, you each draw a card, place it in front of yourself, and pick a relationship type from the suit’s category (or makes something up in a similar vein). Then discuss how your results combine to form a core dynamic between your characters (e.g. Bitter Exes + Arch-nemeses = A former fighting tag-team of lovers that broke up and became arch-nemeses.) Finally, if the relationship is asymmetrical, decide who is playing which part.
